چکیده

Heavy metal toxicity has proven to be a major threat and there are several health risks associated with it. The toxic effects of these metals, even though they do not have any biological role, remain present in some or the other form harmful for human body its proper functioning. metals generally referred as those which possess specific density more than 5 g/cm3 adversely affect environment living organisms. These essential maintain various biochemical physiological functions organisms when very low concentrations, however become noxious exceed certain threshold concentrations. most commonly found heavy waste water include arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, nickel, zinc, all cause environment. enter surroundings by natural means through activities. Various sources soil erosion, weathering earth's crust, mining, industrial effluents, urban runoff, sewage discharge, insect disease control agents applied crops etc. Some i.e. mercury, aluminium causes drastic effect on organisms, mainly beings.

Heavy Metal Toxicity

Heavy metals are metallic elements which have a high atomic weight and a density much greater (at least 5 times) than water. There are more than 20 heavy metals, but four are of particular concern to human health: lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), and inorganic arsenic (As). According to the U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. These four heavy metals are four of the top ...

Heavy Metal Toxicity

In general, irritable health concern related to heavy metal (accumulation) might be mainly divided into 2 types, i.e. heavy metal poisoning caused by excessive extrinsic exposure and genetic disorders such as Wilson disease (as reviewed by Osredkar et al. in this issue). As for the former type, unlike the latter one, it can be said that the health damage spread with the development of the civil...

Heavy Metal Toxicity and ADHD

Cumulative evidence shows that the long-term prognosis for ADHD is poor, with higher rates of persistent psychiatric problems (Shekim et al., 1990), neurocognitive difficulties (Murphy et al., 2002), and academic struggles (Ratey et al., 1992). Many theoretical models have been put forward to explain the cause of ADHD (Barkley, 1997); however, it is largely recognized that it is a heterogeneous...

Evaluation of heavy metal concentrations (Zn, Cd, Pb) in drinking water wells in the rural areas of Bandar Abbas, Iran

Introduction: Groundwater resources, including the most important sources of drinking water are based on studies of underground aquifers provide the main source of drinking water to more than 1.5 billion people around the world.Groundwater contamination by pollutants affecting the quality of these resources will be useless and even likely in some areas. Therefore, the present study aims at the ...
